Caesar
Creek State Park Visitor’s Center
Saturday, March 29 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (banders arrive at 8:15 for set-up)
Visitors and walk-ins are welcomed at the meeting. Caesar Creek / Army Corps of Engineers maintains feeders that have 18 species visiting them in the winter. The general public demonstrations are from from 9:00 AM— 1:00 PM and we plan to do some banding and talk about species and plumages and show visitors and student the birds up close and personal!. In 2007, OBBA members banded 110 birds of 17 species and hosted more than 150 members of the general public at Caesar Creek. This is a great opportunity for us to practice aging and sexing of winter birds, and for us to help non-banders learn more about birds and banding. Hands-on experience with wildlife is one of the most important ways people become interested in ecology and conservation, and we can be a significant part of that experience. Details for the Banders and Volunteers: There is a kitchen, so you will have access to microwave and refrigerator. There
are a few restaurants in the nearby city of Waynesville.
