Visitors and walk-ins are welcomed at the meeting.*(see note at bottom of page)

The meeting is being held in the Cincinnati area, this year, and is a great opportunity for local bird enthusiasts to meet and talk.  Local bird historians, rehabilitators, educators and banders will be on hand to share their experiences. There will even be some rehabilitated raptors on site.

A portion of Miami Whitewater Park, called the Shaker Trace Wetlands, has been converted to wetlands and prairie.  Dave & Jill Russell of AREI and Bill Buskirk will be hosting a special sparrow banding session that morning at Shaker Trace. This prairie is a haven for migrating sparrows!  We have seen hundreds of sparrows in Shaker Trace during Fall migration.  Last year we even banded a rare Nelson's Sharp Tailed Sparrow.  So, grab your cameras and come out to the OBBA meeting and help us with our sparrow drive!

Students are welcomed, Professors are encouraged to bring their ornithology, zoology, etc. classes. Meeting registration is waived for students. Pack a lunch, or register by the deadline for the OBBA provided meal ($6/person) and enjoy the meeting and comradery!

Space is limited to 40, so register early!

About our Speakers

Raptor, Inc. Raptor, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of birds of prey through rehabilitation, education and conservation. RAPTOR's  goals are two-fold: 1. Education of the public on the importance of raptors and the preservation of their native habitat. 2. Rehabilitation and return of injured raptors to their natural environment.

Bernie Daniel - Bernie Daniel,  president of the Ohio Bluebird Society, will discuss a range of issues related to the Eastern Bluebird and its conservation.  Topics will include current ideas about successful bluebirding, a discussion of the natural history of the Eastern Bluebird, a consideration of its role in avian ecological research (including some of the contributions made by bird banders), some recent information on the abundance and distribution of the bluebird in Ohio, and finally an examination of the role of landscape measures (e.g., land cover) on bluebird distribution in the State.
