Red-shouldered Hawk banding:

Locations:

(1) Southwest Ohio (Hamilton, Clermont and Warren counties)

(2) Hocking Hills region (Vinton, Athens, Hocking and Perry counties)

Duration: every year since 1996 (Jeff Hays only in 1996) From 1996 - 2002, we banded 478 Red-shouldered Hawk nestlings in southwest Ohio and 217 nestlings in Hocking Hills Returns: 24 birds encountered dead or alive from southwest Ohio; 2 birds recovered (dead) from Hocking Hills Longest distance to recovery: 500 km from Cincinnati to Carters, GA by an immature bird age about 240 days old.
